Who we are

Alphonix is a software design and engineering studio based in Nairobi, Kenya. For anything in this policy, contact us at info@alphonix.co.ke. We are the data controller for the information described here.

What we collect

• Contact form. Your name, email address and the message you send us.
• Newsletter. Your email address, if you choose to subscribe.
• Technical logs. When you load the site our hosting provider records standard request data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to keep the service running and secure, and is held for a short period.
• Visit statistics. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views so we can see which pages are useful. It records the page, the referring site, an approximate location and your browser and device type. It uses no cookies and does not identify you: visitors are counted with a short-lived hash that is discarded after 24 hours.

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not track you across other websites. The site sets no cookies of its own.

Why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and, if it leads somewhere, to run the project.
• To send you the updates you asked for, and nothing else.
• To protect the site against abuse, spam and fraud.

Our lawful bases under the Data Protection Act, 2019 are your consent (newsletter), taking steps at your request before entering a contract (enquiries), and our legitimate interest in a secure, working website.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that make the site work:

• Resend delivers the email from our contact form and newsletter. Messages are processed on its infrastructure, which is located outside Kenya.
• Vercel, our hosting provider, serves the site, keeps the technical logs described above and provides the visit statistics.

Where data is transferred outside Kenya, we rely on the provider’s contractual data-protection commitments as the safeguard for that transfer.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries: up to 24 months after our last contact, then deleted.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, after which your address is removed.
• Technical logs: a rolling window of no more than a few weeks.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email info@alphonix.co.ke and we will respond within the statutory timeframe. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner at odpc.go.ke.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for a material change, tell subscribers by email.
